It is a distinct privilege and honour to share this joyous product of collaboration.
A song generously written, composed, and electronically percussed by the likes of Alex French (The Alex French Revolution) after a prompt which I had volunteered regarding the intangibility of the past--a mere concept within the mind on a linear and permanently excelling timeline--yet so close that it feels as if it can in some sense almost be reached by the edge of one's fingers. As children of the 20th century, many of us have watched reality itself undergo an unprecedented paradigm shift from the analog to the digital, the physical to the virtual, the tangible to the non-existent.
It's seriously reflecting upon this that brings about an even greater sense of astonishment, as it contextualizes the stunning brevity of our very existence on that timeline, and how contingent our concept of reality is upon that. What gives us comfort or makes us feel safe, despite the absence of safety. What makes us safe and steady at home, here on earths while earth itself is floating through a black vacuous sea of negative space. What makes us feel joy and what we value most deeply. Many if not all of these things are fleeting pleasures of the transitory physical world, and yet it's that same physicality which creates the frustrating sense that, whatever these concepts may be--past or future--if you reach out, you can almost touch them...
